Works at Beck Road are approaching completion. The Victorian terraced house in Hackney has been sensitively repaired and reconfigured into a live/work space, preserving its original character using natural and renewable materials, and minimal interventions.

The Four Winds

The Invisible Compass and Wind Vane artworks have been installed at Cardinal Place, part of the Four Winds project in collaboration with Fabio Lattanzi Antinori, Eva Berendes and Aldo Rinaldi. The project is due for completion later this month.

Works have commenced at Beck Road. The project will repair, remodel and upgrade the existing Victorian terraced house to meet contemporary building standards and provide a live/work home for an artist.

Ted will be teaching Unit 7 at London Metropolitan University with David Grandorge again this year. The studio will continue to address how global heating impacts the practice and production of architecture, this time, through the design of a low embodied and operational energy factory on Frog Island, Rainham, Essex.

The Manser Medal 2023

Rhossili House has been named on the shortlist for the Manser Medal 2023 - AJ House of the Year Award. The Medal was conceived in 2001 to inspire innovation in house design, and to show how social and technological aspirations can be met by intelligent design. The prize is named after the British architect, RIBA president and Royal Academician Michael Manser.

Rhossili House has been shortlisted for the National Eisteddfod of Wales Gold Medal for Architecture. The annual Eisteddfod is Wales' most important national cultural event. The architecture award is given in partnership with the Design Commission for Wales and the Royal Society of Architects Wales.

Rhossili House has won a RIBA National Award. Thirty buildings have been named as winners this year, the RIBA National Awards are given to buildings across the UK in recognition of their significant contributions to architecture.

Notting Hill Gate

Maich Swift Architects has been shortlisted for a new public realm installation in Notting Hill Gate. The practice is working in collaboration with Wood Street Walls, thinkFOUNDATION, Linett Kamala and Greg Bunbury. The London Festival of Architecture was commissioned by Kensington and Chelsea Council to run the competition, encouraging London-based architects and designers to share their ideas to reimagine the street.

A Century of the Artist’s Studio

Maich Swift took part in a series exploring the typology of the artist's studio and the challenges of delivering studio provision today, developed by the Architecture Foundation in partnership with the Whitechapel Gallery. The series coincides with the gallery's current exhibition A Century of the Artist’s Studio 1920 – 2020 which runs until 29 May 2022. Burnieshed

We have been appointed to carry out a feasibility study for the repair and adaptation of a group of buildings on the Bamff Estate in the uplands of North East Perthshire. The buildings will provide studio space and accommodation for artist residencies adding to the wide range of activities on the 1300 acre estate which include a wetland rewilding project.
