Bamff Estate
Bamff Estate
Located in the uplands of North East Perthshire, this project deals with the repair and adaptation of a grouping of existing stone structures, formerly the gamekeeper’s cottage and ancillary buildings, and the introduction of a number of new timber structures which will provide studio space and accommodation for artist residencies adding to the wide range of activities on the 1300 acre estate. The proprietors of the estate have in place a long term strategy to create a richly biodiverse area of wild land replacing 166 hectares of marginal farmland and plantations. As part of the ongoing reforestation of the estate, native and deciduous trees have been planted; Oak, Juniper, Scots Pine, Rowan, Holly, Birch and Hazel. The site is positioned on the southeastern edge of the estate in a clearing adjacent to the Cateran Trail and overlooks a small river that has been shaped by the reintroduction of beavers to the estate in 2002.
