Tir Hen

Tir Hen

Alteration of a 200-year-old stone longhouse and adjacent barn positioned on the crest of a southeast-facing hill. The buildings will be joined by a new link space creating a generous series of connected rooms giving a 180-degree aspect of the North West side of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Communal spaces and bedrooms are split between the longhouse and the barn. The new link space is a simple trabeated structure, with dressed masonry blocks and concrete. New walls will make use of slipform masonry construction, a technique used by Frank Lloyd Wright at Taliesin West in Arizona. The existing limestone rubble walls, new slipform walls, and concrete will be made uniform with a lime slurry finish.
