Fabrication of The Invisible Compass, an artwork by Fabio Lattanzi Antinori, part of The Four Winds project, is underway.
The practice has collaborated with izé to design and develop a range of doorknobs, a furniture pull, and a coat hook. They are available to order here.
The work of Unit 7 Diploma Students at London Metropolitan University will be on display from 18th June (private view) – 29th June. 16 Goulston Street, London E1 7TP.

Works have commenced at Beck Road. The project will repair, remodel and upgrade the existing Victorian terraced house to meet contemporary building standards and provide a live/work home for an artist.
Our model of the Artist Studio at the Bamff Estate has been selected for display at this year’s Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
Planning permission has been granted for The Four Winds, an artist and architect collaboration at Cardinal Place in Victoria for Landsec.
Ted will be teaching Unit 7 at London Metropolitan University with David Grandorge again this year. The studio will continue to address how global heating impacts the practice and production of architecture, this time, through the design of a low embodied and operational energy factory on Frog Island, Rainham, Essex.
Rhossili House has been named on the shortlist for the Manser Medal 2023 – AJ House of the Year Award. The Medal was conceived in 2001 to inspire innovation in house design, and to show how social and technological aspirations can be met by intelligent design. The prize is named after the British architect, RIBA president and Royal Academician Michael Manser.
Rhossili House has been selected for this year’s RIBA House of the Year longlist. RIBA House of the Year is awarded annually to the best example of a one-off house designed by an architect in the UK, celebrating excellence and innovation in home design.
The practice has been selected as a finalist in the Individual House Architect of the Year category at the Building Design Architect of the Year Awards 2023.
National Eisteddfod of Wales 2023
Rhossili House has been shortlisted for the National Eisteddfod of Wales Gold Medal for Architecture. The annual Eisteddfod is Wales’ most important national cultural event. The architecture award is given in partnership with the Design Commission for Wales and the Royal Society of Architects Wales.
Rhossili House has won a RIBA National Award. Thirty buildings have been named as winners this year, the RIBA National Awards are given to buildings across the UK in recognition of their significant contributions to architecture.
Elevation Study of the Artist Studios at the Bamff Estate is on display at the Royal Academy in Room VIII, curated by David Remfry.
Rhossili House has won a RSAW Welsh Architecture Award and Project Architect of the Year Award at the RIBA Regional Awards 2023. The project was described as ‘both modest and exceptional at the same time.’ The full citation from the RIBA Awards Jury can be read here.

Rhossili House is one of four projects shortlisted for the 2023 Royal Society of Architects Wales (RSAW) Welsh Architecture Awards.
Paul and Ted will be taking part in a symposium on 25th March at Waterloo City Farm alongside Apparata, Cairn, Casswell Bank and Fielden Fowles. Organised by David Grandorge, the five architecture offices will give papers addressing low embodied construction, low operational energy servicing and ecology in their projects.
Rhossili House has been included in Domus Magazine’s selection of the Best houses of 2022.
Refurbishment work on a former factory and design studio in north London has been completed. The project extensively upgraded the existing building to meet EnerPHit (Passivhaus) standards using natural and breathable construction materials.
The practice has won the prestigious Young Architect of the Year Award.
Rhossili House has been awarded a High Commendation in the Private Housing Category at the Structural Timber Awards.

The studio will continue to address how global heating impacts upon the practice and production of architecture, in this case, through the design of low and medium-rise housing for social rent in east London.
Maich Swift Architects has been selected as a finalist in the Young Architect of the Year category at the Building Design Architect of the Year Awards 2022.
Maich Swift Architects has been shortlisted for a new public realm installation in Notting Hill Gate. The practice is working in collaboration with Wood Street Walls, thinkFOUNDATION, Linett Kamala and Greg Bunbury. The London Festival of Architecture was commissioned by Kensington and Chelsea Council to run the competition, encouraging London-based architects and designers to share their ideas to reimagine the street.
Maich Swift took part in a series exploring the typology of the artist’s studio and the challenges of delivering studio provision today, developed by the Architecture Foundation in partnership with the Whitechapel Gallery. The series coincides with the gallery’s current exhibition A Century of the Artist’s Studio 1920 – 2020 which runs until 29 May 2022. Planning permission has been granted for our proposals on the Bamff Estate in North East Perthshire.
Works to remodel an Edwardian home in Highgate have reached practical completion.
Ted will be teaching Unit 7 at London Metropolitan University alongside David Grandorge this year. The unit will explore the idea of Good Nature, an attempt to reconcile strong architectural and ecological intentions with many of the realities of contemporary construction.

We have been appointed to carry out a feasibility study for the repair and adaptation of a group of buildings on the Bamff Estate in the uplands of North East Perthshire. The buildings will provide studio space and accommodation for artist residencies adding to the wide range of activities on the 1300 acre estate which include a wetland rewilding project.
Installation of the cross laminated solid timber (CLT) superstructure for Rhossili House has begun and will be installed over 3 weeks. The use of CLT as a building material is an energy efficient and economical solution to construction on remote sites.

Chiltern Street is included in The Architect’s Journal Specification 02.20 as a case study for floors, stairs and signage.
Potemkin Theatre has been longlisted for the MacEwen Award 2020. The award was launched in 2015 to recognise socially responsible design in the built environment and architecture for the common good.

Ted has been invited to speak about the work of the practice at London Metropolitan University on 18.10.19. The lecture series is about young practices throughout Europe, confident and inventive ‘Form-Givers’ who are delivering their first projects.
Site clearance has begun in Rhossili on the Gower peninsula in South Wales in preparation for a new solid timber house. The project is due for completion next summer.

Our proposal to remodel a 200 year old Welsh longhouse and barn in the Brecon Beacons National Park has been submitted for planning approval.
Works to refurbish and extend the lower floors of a listed Georgian townhouse in London have reached completion.
We have won the Architecture Foundation’s Antepavilion 2019 competition. Our proposal for a timber structure clad in colourful panels of painted canvas, which will act as both a canalside theatre and rooftop cinema, was chosen by the jury from almost 200 entries.
We have been shortlisted as one of five finalists for the Architecture Foundation’s Antepavilion 2019 competition.
We have recently been appointed to remodel, refurbish and extend a Grade II listed property in central London.
Site works have commenced on a project to refurbish and extend the lower floors of a listed Georgian townhouse in London.
We have recently completed the refurbishment of a listed property in North London. The project involved the restoration and extension of an existing family home and the design of freestanding pieces of furniture.
Works at Chiltern Street with Sophie Hulme on their flagship store are now complete.
Planning permission has been granted for Rhossili House, a solid timber (CLT) building which will occupy a dramatic position on the limestone cliff overlooking Rhossili Bay.
We have been appointed to remodel a 200 year old Welsh longhouse and barn in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Tir Hen is located on the crest of a south-east facing hill giving a 180-degree aspect towards the Usk Valley, Carmarthen Fans and the Black Mountain range.
Works at Chiltern Street are nearing completion. The project uses natural materials with subtle variation in pattern, tone and finish.
The Garden Room in North London is currently being installed after being fabricated off-site making use of simple materials; stained solid douglas fir and rotary cut douglas fir plywood.
We are continuing our collaboration with Sophie Hulme on a forthcoming flagship store located on Chiltern Street in London which builds on themes present in the Burlington Arcade project. The internal works have commenced on site and the project is due for completion in July 2018.
Our project in the village of Rhossili has been submitted for planning approval. The proposal deals sensitively with the village and exceptional scenic qualities of the site which is part of the first designated Area of Natural Beauty in the United Kingdom. The coastline is a Heritage Coast and much of the surrounding land is under the stewardship of the National Trust, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) as well as a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC).
Site works have now commenced on a project to refurbish a Victorian townhouse in Primrose Hill. The project is due for completion in early 2018.
A temporary pop up shop at Burlington Arcade for accessories studio Sophie Hulme is now open.
